Saad Hammadi is the Bureau Chief for World Is One News (WION) in Bangladesh. He is a former correspondent for The Guardian and The Christian Science Monitor. In over a decade of his experience with The Daily Star and New Age, two of Bangladesh’s most prominent newspapers, Hammadi has produced reports, analysis and investigative pieces on Bangladesh politics, terrorism, human rights violation, torture and extra-legal measures used by Bangladeshi security agencies on citizens, corruption among state machinery, garment unrest, cross-border trafficking and climate change among many.
He has travelled some of the remotest parts of Bangladesh in Bhola and Gaibandha to report the effects of climate change and the adaptability of the people in char areas, which were published in special issues of New Age jointly with the Oxfam.
Hammadi developed his niche on science, information and communication technology in the beginning of his career with The Daily Star and after joining The New Age in 2006, he made crime his forte at the features department before moving on to current affairs stories.
